This paper provides a forensic analysis of how different procurement frameworks—specifically Design-Bid-Build (DBB) versus Design-Build (DB) and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD)—impact the frequency and intensity of contractual conflict. By developing the Procurement Alignment Index ($PAI$), we quantify the compatibility between project complexity and the chosen contract vehicle. Our forensic analysis of 95 commercial construction projects reveals that 78% of litigation cases stem from procurement strategies that failed to account for geotechnical variability.
