In high-humidity tropical climates such as Bali, the permeability of standard plastering systems often leads to efflorescence and substrate degradation. This study proposes an engineered plastering protocol incorporating crystalline waterproofing admixtures and hydrophobic surface treatments. By evaluating the reduction in capillary water absorption ($W_a$), we demonstrate that a systematic application of barrier-enhanced mortar systems significantly extends the service life of building envelopes. 1. Introduction AAC blocks possess a highly porous micro-structure that facilitates capillary suction. Without professional-grade waterproofing integration into the plastering system, wall envelopes in tropical zones are prone to water-induced pathologies. This paper presents a methodology to achieve "water-tight" masonry finishes. 2. Mechanics of Capillary Ingress The moisture transport through the plaster-AAC interface is modeled by Darcy’s Law for unsaturated flow. The capillary absorption coefficient ($A$) is critical to maintaining a dry substrate: $$I = A \cdot \sqrt{t}$$ Where $I$ is the cumulative water intake and $t$ is time. To achieve high-durability performance, $A$ must be minimized through the integration of crystalline-forming agents that seal the pore structure of the plaster matrix during the hydration process. 3. Professional Execution Protocol Substrate Stabilization: Application of a thin primer to regulate suction before primary plastering. Crystalline Waterproofing Mortar: Incorporating active crystalline admixtures that react with water to form non-soluble needles within the mortar matrix.
