This paper presents a comprehensive engineering analysis of common painting problems and their mitigation strategies, focusing on defect mechanisms, environmental influences, material compatibility, and application techniques. The study identifies key defects such as peeling, blistering, cracking, chalking, and fungal growth, and evaluates their root causes using material science and environmental exposure models. Analytical approaches are combined with field observations to propose effective solutions that enhance coating performance. Results demonstrate that proper surface preparation, controlled application parameters, and climate-adapted material selection can reduce defect occurrence by up to 60% and significantly extend coating lifespan. The findings are particularly relevant for tropical regions such as Bali, where humidity and temperature play critical roles. ABSTRAK (VERSI INDONESIA) Masalah pada pengecatan merupakan salah satu penyebab utama kegagalan finishing dalam konstruksi bangunan yang berdampak pada estetika, ketahanan, dan biaya perawatan. Penelitian ini membahas analisis teknik terhadap masalah umum pengecatan serta solusi penanganannya secara ilmiah. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa persiapan permukaan yang baik, teknik aplikasi yang tepat, dan pemilihan material sesuai iklim dapat mengurangi kerusakan hingga 60% serta memperpanjang umur cat secara signifikan. 1.
